Access to energy research in Europe

In July 2021, the European Commission presented the package of proposals to transform our economy to reach the 2030 climate targets to reduce emissions to 55% below 1990 levels. The increase of renewable energy use and the retrofit of old energy installations, such as those in the building and industry sectors, are two main areas to be addressed. To achieve these European goals, accurate, open-source data is a priority to provide the information needed about the availability of energy research in Europe.

EnerMaps has developed a set of tools that bridge the gap of energy professionals to science, and is about to make them available to accelerate and support decision-making among energy professionals, such as public administration, energy planification, energy providers and researchers. After 1 year of working with OpenAIRE, EnerMaps has succeeded in developing the first beta version of the Gateway, providing quick access to scientific content from over 90 000 content providers and visualisations that feature several calculation modules.
