We are currently looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be able to work in a multicultural environment involved in various EU and not only projects, supporting our expansion with your experience, knowledge, and result-driven attitude.
OpenAIRE AMKE is a non-profit company that has been operating as a service provider for the European research setting for at least 13 years. OpenAIRE is seeking a Junior Accountant with experience in accounting data entry, procurement, travel arrangements and general office admin tasks.
Job Summary
The Accounting Assistant will support the finance department in day-to-day operations, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, audits, and budget preparation. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting practices and a keen interest in supporting OpenAIRE's financial health and mission.
Key Responsibilities
• Finance, Accounting, Auditing
- Perform daily accounting tasks and support to all aspects of the financial team
- Assist in accurate recording of expenses; maintain accurate and comprehensive financial records
- Help in performing reconciliations of financial data
- Assist the accountant in any activity related to reporting requirements of AADE
- Help in preparing financial reports
- Assist in the preparation of documents and accounts for external audits as indicated
- Ensure timely processing of transactions
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices and manage accounts
• Other:
- Purchases: perform and follow up on orders, their delivery and payment
- Travel expenses: oversee the full circle of travel claims (estimated/final claims, payments, etc.)
- Work closely with the Office Manager and EU Project Admin in several tasks related to timesheets, contracts, filing, etc.
- Supporting the Office in other ad-hoc tasks
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
Some experience in accounting or related fields is preferred, especially within a non-profit environment.
Familiarity with financial accounting statements and Pylon accounting software.
1-3 years experience
Skills and Abilities:
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and accounting software
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Terms of employment
This will be a full-time position.
We only accept candidates who are based in Athens, Greece.
The selected candidate will join forces with the OpenAIRE team located in Athens, but we apply a hybrid work environment, with physical presence on premises at least 2-3 times a week.
Depending on skills and experience, the gross salary for a full-time position will be between 1200 EUR and 1500 EUR per month. The salary is intended to be gross, i.e., taxes, insurance, etc. are included.
