Content Providers News no.17
15 June 2021
Upcoming meeting: 2nd of June at 14h30 CEST
OpenAIRE runs a series of regular online community calls for all OpenAIRE content provider managers that can catch up with latest OpenAIRE services enhancements, express interest and queries on the topics under discussion and of course provide feedback. It is a great opportunity to present and discuss recent developments from OpenAIRE, upcoming releases from the PROVIDE related services and other relevant topics. Through the calls OpenAIRE provides clear and accurate information on its infrastructure and service developments.
The upcoming meeting will be an opportunity to know more about the recent developments on the adaptation of the FAIR Data Maturity Model indicators in the OpenAIRE Validator.
The Community calls are open to all OpenAIRE content provider managers and we welcome any feedback from users.

OpenAIRE PROVIDE allows for registration of content providers that are compatible with OpenAIRE guidelines. By registering in OpenAIRE, content providers are becoming a building block of a global Open Research community, a gateway to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). Over the years, several repositories have joined OpenAIRE, contributing to build the OpenAIRE Research Graph, which collects metadata records from more than 70K scholarly communication sources from all over the world, including Open Access institutional repositories, data archives, and journals.
The number of content providers registered in OpenAIRE has been continuously increasing over the years, with more than 1900 already, representing distinct typologies, such as institutional & thematic Repositories, Journals, Data Repositories, Current Research Information Systems (CRISs), among aggregators, and others.
Discover the ongoing work that will allow you to evaluate the FAIRness of your datasource
OpenAIRE is working to adapt the FAIR RDA Data Maturity Model indicators in our OpenAIRE Validator. The Validator is available to every logged-in user via the PROVIDE dashboard and is intended to provide an impression of the FAIRness of their repository.
The FAIR Maturity Model Indicators, as core criteria to assess the implementation level of the FAIR (Data) principles, implemented in the OpenAIRE Validator, aims to offer to the datasource managers, a way to assess the implementation of FAIR (Data) Principles in their datasource.
This implementation in the Validator will deploy a specific guideline to evaluate the level of adoption of the FAIR Principles by datasources.
Being part of OpenAIRE, all datasources assure its compatibility with global standards and interoperability based on the adoption of OpenAIRE guidelines. More specifically the FAIR assessment will leverage a more swift adoption and implementation process of FAIR principles in repositories, enabling a faster identification of trustworthy repositories, thus accelerating the building of EOSC services upon these infrastructures.
The June’s Community Call for Content Providers will present the ongoing work that it’s been done by OpenAIRE to adapt the FAIR Data Maturity Model. Join the session on June 2nd or see the recording and presentation that will be made available in the event page.
