OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS Managers release 1.1.1

For developers of CRIS platforms, the Guidelines provide guidance to add supportive functionalities for CRIS managers and users. Exchange of information between individual CRIS systems and the OpenAIRE infrastructure is an example of point-to-point data exchange between CRIS systems, since the OpenAIRE infrastructure itself is a CRIS system. On December 20th, 2018, an updated version was released for the OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS Managers. The new version v1.1.1 can be found on ZENODO (https:...

How to make your data Open and FAIR?

Ilona von Stein, project leader and policy officer at DANS, writes about the importance of Data Management Training. What would happen if your data is not trusted by your own research community? What if your research community generates 2 petabyte of raw data per day, and and needs to share it between institutions? What if reuse of your data takes place in computational workflows, but data archives do not provide formats and annotations to support this? And what if you cannot find...

Enabling single sign-on across EOSC-hub and OpenAIRE services

Integration of the OpenAIRE AAI with EOSC-hub AAI The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) aims to provide an Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructure (AAI). The EOSC-hub and the OpenAIRE-Advance projects’ AAIs build on existing AAI services and provide a consistent, interoperable system with which communities can integrate. This way, the communities can gain seamless access to services and resources across disciplinary, social and geographical borders. The EOSC-hub and the OpenAIRE AAIs ha...

How to make a CRIS OpenAIRE-compatible: the case of METIS: METIS2OpenAIRE case study

Blogpost by Pablo de Castro, METIS2OpenAIRE project coordinator at euroCRIS The OpenAIRE-funded METIS2OpenAIRE project has run from early Feb to mid-May 2018. Its aim has been to make a first institutional CRIS system OpenAIRE-compatible as per the updated CERIF-XML Guidelines for CRIS Managers. The process has involved the development of a minimally sufficient validator that future CRIS systems may use as a means to confirm their own compatibility with these Guidelines very much in the way...

Data2Paper Scholix Integration

Introduction to Data2paper ‘Data2Paper’ is a ‘one-click’ process to streamline the data paper publication workflow. Metadata about a dataset (together with a link to the dataset itself) are transferred from a data repository, via a cloud-based helper app which allows the addition of methodological detail, to a relevant publisher as a data paper submission. The app leverages DataCite DOI and ORCID functionality to avoid data re-entry, saving time and avoiding errors. If accepted and published, su...

VIPER: The Visual Project Explorer

Blogpost by Open Knowledge Maps A massive 2.4 million research projects from around the world are listed in the OpenAIRE database. But getting an overview of project outputs can be tedious: you are often faced with lengthy reports and outdated project websites, especially when the project has already finished. This leads to a situation that you probably encountered before - it is almost impossible to get a complete and clear picture of what has been produced in some of the most important project...
