Gathering the German-speaking Open Access community together - 10th Open Access Days held in Munich
The Open Access Days (Open-Access-Tage) is the foremost annual Open Access and Open Science conference in the German-speaking area. Its target audience includes OA-experts and advocates, researchers of all disciplines, librarians and representatives from publishing as well as research funders and supporters.

This year they were held on October 10th-11th and were hosted by the university library of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich.

The tenth installment of the Open Access Days with its focus on “Transformation to Open Access” saw an all-time participant high with over 350 attendees from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This attendance record as well as a large number of “fresh faces” amongst the participants shows that the open access community in the German-speaking countries is steadily growing and branching out.

OpenAIRE was represented at the Open Access Days by Tony Ross-Hellauer (OpenAIRE Scientific Manager at Göttingen State and University Library) who participated in the panel discussion on the topic of “A functional OA market: Which infrastructure and services do we need?” as well as presenting a talk on Open Peer Review within one of the conference sessions together with Arvid Deppe (OpenAIRE project officer at Göttingen State and University Library).

Savoring the memories of many interesting opportunities to exchange ideas on issues ranging from infrastructure to financing models to new services and projects, the German-speaking open access community is already looking forward to the 11th installment of the Open Access Days, which will take place in Dresden September 11th-13th, 2017.
