UKIM Skopje: Embracing Open Science Policy

Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, located in the Republic of North Macedonia, has become the first university in the country to adopt an Open Science Policy. This significant decision was made during the 19th session of the University Senate on March 31, 2022.
The adoption of the Open Science Policy is a testament to the university's strategic vision and its commitment to promoting the principles and practices of Open Science. With this policy, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje aims to create, define, and promote Open Science Policy in accordance with relevant national and European Union guidelines. The university is dedicated to advancing the dissemination of scientific knowledge, benefiting society, and embracing key aspects such as openness, findability, accessibility, interoperability, reusability, reproducibility, and responsible research practices.

The Open Science Policy reflects the university's strategic focus on internationalization, highlighting the recognition of the importance of science, technology, and innovation. It demonstrates the university's unwavering commitment to upholding high standards in research and development, aligning with the principles of the European Education Area. These fundamental principles are underscored in crucial university documents, including the University Statute (2019), the University's Strategy for 2019-2023, and the Action Plan.
