Open Science & Research Data Management in Horizon Europe for Turkey

On Thursday 11th March 2021, an event organised by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) took place with a variety of guests and topics. The action is under the "Turkey in Horizon 2020 Phase II" Technical Assistance Project which is co-financed by the EU and the Republic of Turkey and implemented by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Industry and Technology within the scope of the Competitive Sectors Programme. OpenAIRE offered help and support to the organiser as the expert organisation on Open Science and largest Open Science facilitator and services provider, with 14 services, 124M publications and 218K research software interlinked with publications through the OpenAIRE Research Graph.

The main event sessions were equally important to the audience covering topics that depict the view of the European Commission by Alea López de San Román, Policy Officer, DG R&I, Open Science Unit, explaining the main challenges and priorities of European Commission on Open Science, how Europe supports Open Science, lessons learnt from H2020. Furthermore, information on EOSC and latest updates around it were elaborated. Continuing, a presentation of the European Open Access mandate and OpenAIRE's operation and community in Turkey (in Turkish language) were presented by Gültekin Gürdal, OpenAIRE  Turkey (NOAD) / Izmir Institute of Technology. Additionally, Elli Papadopoulou, the OpenAIRE Greek NOAD / Athena Research and Innovation Center presented a more practical approach of Open Science and explained how to publish in Open Access, what are FAIR principles and described how to write the mandatory to Horizon Europe, Research Data Management (RDM) plans with ARGOS. A brief reference on the Open Research Europe was also incorporated. Lastly, the Amnesia data anonymization service of OpenAIRE that is GDPR compliant was presented.
