Khayala Hajiyeva was graduated from Baku State University Information and Document Management faculty and holds her master’s degree from the same faculty.

Since 2021, Khayala  Hajiyeva is the director of the Library Information Center at Azerbaijan Technical University. Until that position, she has acquired experience in a public library as a Methodist, worked as an instructor at Baku State University, and performed as a specialist librarian at ADA University.

Khayala actively participates in local, regional and international conferences, exchange programs and projects. She has represented Azerbaijan in ANKOSLink and IFLA conferences, successfully completed the ANKOS Personal Exchange Program, EU4Dialogue – Summer school Program, ALCTS Course and similar programs. Currently, she manages the Developing Research Capacity through Institutional Repository Network in Azerbaijan project funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ K2 Program on behalf of Azerbaijan Technical University.

She has broad knowledge and experience regarding the implementation of open access repositories, metadata services, open access licensing and digitization.
