EMBRC-OpenAIRE: collaborating on Open Science

May 8, 2022

The OpenAIRE-Nexus consortium and the European Marine Biological Resource Centre (EMBRC) proudly announce their collaboration to develop a dashboard for EMBRC research outputs. The new web platform will facilitate the tracking of EMBRC publications and provide statistics and indicators useful for reporting and monitoring the impact of EMBRC in the research landscape and its contribution to Open Science.

OpenAIRE will offer a MONITOR dashboard with a set of configurable indicators and the tools required to define the identification criteria of research products accountable to the infrastructure. The metadata records of the identified products will be made openly available via the OpenAIRE API and via Zenodo as a dump in json format.

EMBRC will be responsible for the definition of the identification criteria using the tools provided by OpenAIRE and for the validation of the outcome of the text mining algorithm developed by the OpenAIRE team. EMBRC will use the MONITOR dashboard for tracking/reporting purposes, providing to the OpenAIRE team any useful feedback on functionality and possible enhancements.

‘We are very excited to make use of the OpenAIRE platform and to be involved in the Open Science movement. The tools offered by OpenAIRE will provide a reliable method to aggregate scientific outcomes of EMBRC and track the use of datasets and protocols.” Nicolas Pade, Executive Director, EMBRC.

“This collaboration marks the beginning of a long-lasting and trusted relationship with EMBRC. Both organisations can only gain: EMBRC using the extensive knowledge of OpenAIRE (both on technical and network), and OpenAIRE having a partner that will take ownership of their research production, curate it and make it part of the ecosystem.   We hope that similar collaborations will soon take place with other Research Infrastructures. Together we can achieve more.” Natalia Manola, CEO, OpenAIRE AMKE

About EMBRC: The European Marine Biological Resource Centre (EMBRC) is a European ‘research infrastructure‘ that provides researchers and companies with access to marine organisms and their ecosystems and the facilities to study them, including experimental facilities and technological platforms. We enable researchers to better understand our impact on the oceans and ensure the sustainable use of marine resources

About OpenAIRE-Nexus: OpenAIRE-Nexus was built on top of the 10-year path of experience and connections of OpenAIRE in order to deliver interoperable EOSC services. This H2020 project aims to bring to the European Open Science Cloud and the world a set of services to implement and accelerate Open Science. OpenAIRE-Nexus services aimed to be embedded in the researcher's workflow, facilitating the adoption of open and FAIR data Science practices. This project's intention is to give research communities, institutions and libraries tools to make their content more visible and discoverable.
