EOSC EU Node Services in Action

We are glad to announce a new series of webinars covering the contribution of European e-Infrastructures to EOSC, supported by the European e-Infrastructures Assembly (the collaboration of leading e-Infrastructures EGIEUDATGÉANTOpenAIRE, and PRACE).

The first webinar in this series will be organised in collaboration with the GÉANT Special Interest Group on Research Engagement Development (SIG-RED). It will showcase the EOSC EU Node services and their value for researchers.

Date: Wednesday, April 22, 2026
Time: 9:00-10:30 CEST

An essential set of services to support data-driven research

The EOSC EU Node was officially launched by the European Commission in October 2024 as the first European-level node of the emerging EOSC Federation. It relies on the contributions of European repositories, research infrastructures and e-Infrastructures, scientific service providers, and several European National Research and Education Networks (NRENs), including CESNET (Czech Republic), GRNET (Greece), PCSS (Poland), Sikt (Norway), and SUNET (Sweden).

The EOSC EU Node is a collaborative environment built on the FAIR principles, promoting transparency and accessibility with Open Science at its core. Currently, it comprises a robust set of six publicly available services:

  • File Sync and Share
  • Interactive Notebooks
  • Large File Transfer
  • Virtual Machines
  • Cloud Container Platform
  • Bulk Data Transfer
These services address key challenges in modern research workflows, enabling researchers to work efficiently in data-intensive environments, across disciplines and across borders. The application and infrastructure services of the EOSC EU Node have been selected to support a wide range of research domains, providing a common baseline for researchers in all fields.
In this webinar, participants will:
  • Learn about the EOSC EU Node and its future plans, [Peter Szegedi, European Commission, DG CONNECT]
  • Discover training resources available via the EOSC EU Node Learning Center, [Maja Dolinar, OpenAIRE]
  • Discuss the benefits of promoting EOSC EU Node services from the perspective of an NREN, [Olga Popcova, RENAM]
  • Explore HOMEROS-OSCARS use cases in Earth Sciences, [Angeliki Adamaki, Uppsala University and Vassilis Anagnostou, Ion-Anastasios Karolos, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki]
    • Use Case 1: How the EOSC EU Node Interactive Notebooks service can facilitate day-to-day research processes in seismology and geodesy.
    • Use Case 2: How the EOSC EU Node Virtual Machines service can enable a reproducible processing environment for geodetic data.
  • Share experiences and insights with the community.
Target groups: Researchers, Research Communities, Research Support Staff, Data Librarians
