Athena Research Center (ARC), the Hellenic Academic Libraries Link (HEAL-Link) and the University of Cyprus Library, being the National Open Access Desks for Greece and Cyprus respectively, are organising a webinar on Data Stewardship in continuation of their “Open Science webinar series”.
OpenAIRE webinar: “The role and value of data stewards in Universities: a TU Delft case study on data stewardship”
When: Thursday 9 May 2019
Time: 11.00-12.00 EEST
Where: Connect here https://zoom.us/j/646672002
Language of the presentation: english
The OpenAIRE team is happy to welcome as guest speakers to present their work at the TU Delft in the Netherlands: Marta Teperek, Data Stewardship project coordinator and Esther Plomp, data steward of the Faculty of Applied Sciences.
During this webinar Marta will talk about the Data Stewardship project at TU Delft. To comprehensively address disciplinary data management needs around the campus, TU Delft appointed a dedicated Data Steward at every faculty. During this webinar you will find out who are the data stewards, what background do they have, what support do they offer to the research community and how are they funded. In addition, Marta will also discuss some key challenges and future plans.

Short bios of the speakers:
Marta did a PhD in molecular biology at the University of Cambridge. In 2015 she joined the University of Cambridge and led the creation and development of the Research Data Management Facility, which supported researchers at the University of Cambridge in good management and sharing of research data. In 2017 Marta moved to TU Delft in Netherlands, where she is leading the Data Stewardship project. Marta serves on the Editorial Board of the Data Science Journal and Co-Chairs the Research Data Alliance Libraries for Research Data Interest Group. She regularly publishes blog posts and peer-reviewed publications topics of data management and open science and is professionally active on Twitter.
Esther Plomp is the Data Steward of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at TU Delft since December 2018. Her PhD research (at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) focussed on the chemical composition of modern and archaeological human teeth. As a Data Steward she is supporting researchers with their data management, and answers questions regarding Data Management Plans and Paragraphs, data storage solutions, FAIR principles, personal data and data repositories. Within research data management practises she is particularly interested in Electronic Lab Notebooks and Open Scholarship developments.
The webinar will be recorded and all related material (slides, recordings, Q&As) will be shared with everyone afterwards.
