Open Science Fair 2025: Registration is Now Open! 

Join us from 15–17 September 2025 at the iconic CERN Science Gateway in Geneva, Switzerland, for a transformative gathering of the global Open Science community. Under the theme “Fusing Forces – Accelerating Open Science through Collaboration”, OSFair 2025 will explore how diverse partnerships can drive meaningful change in research and innovation.​

MONITOR INFRASTRUCTURE
HEAL-Link Champions National Research Mapping Initiative in Greece

HEAL-Link, the Hellenic Academic Libraries Association, in collaboration with OpenAIRE, is spearheading the development of Greece's National Infrastructure for Mapping Research Activity.

This pioneering project aims to enhance transparency and innovation in scholarly communication by providing comprehensive insights into research outputs, OA adoption, and societal engagement across Greek academic institutions. The initiative aligns with European Open Science goals and will serve as a valuable tool for policymakers and the academic community.

AI INFRASTRUCTURE
LLMs4Europe: Europe Builds Its Own Sector-Specific AI Models Under ALT-EDIC

Europe is taking control of its AI future with LLMs4Europe, a new flagship initiative coordinated by ALT-EDIC and funded by the Digital Europe Programme. The project brings together 70+ partners to develop open, trustworthy, and multilingual LLMs tailored to Europe’s strategic sectors: Energy, Telecom, Tourism, Public Services, and Science.

OpenAIRE is  part of the Science pilot, which will support multilingual discovery, evidence synthesis, and policy insight generation. All powered by trusted content from the European Open Science Cloud.

OpenAIRE has launched redesigned websites for its MONITOR and CONNECT services, two powerful tools advancing Open Science.  MONITOR provides customizable dashboards to track research activity and impact, while CONNECT helps communities and University Alliances or Consortia create tailored discovery portals for research, linked to the global knowledge ecosystem.

The refreshed platforms offer improved usability, clearer guidance, and streamlined access for all users.

EOSC
OSTrails GA 2025: From Blueprints to Real-World Adoption 

The OSTrails General Assembly 2025 brought the consortium together in Athens (> 60 people) to review progress and coordinate the next steps in supporting Open Science implementation across Europe.

 

The meeting highlighted key achievement, including the release of the OSTrails framework and concrete developments in FAIR assessment tools, Data Management Plans, and Scientific Knowledge Graphs, all designed to strengthen EOSC and support researchers in practice.

REPOSITORY INFRASTRUCTURE
Shaping the Future of European Repositories: Community-Driven Priorities

OpenAIRE, COAR, LIBER, and SPARC Europe joined forces to consult the community on the evolving role of repositories in the European research landscape.

 

The result is the IMPACT-REPO Action Plan, highlighting shared priorities across four pillars: impact, trust, inclusiveness, and innovation. These findings will guide efforts to strengthen repositories as vital infrastructures for Open Science.
