Accelerating Open Science Together: Join the Movement at Open Science Fair 2025

Open Science is about more than access, it’s about collaboration, inclusion, and impact. That’s why OSFair 2025, co-organised by OpenAIRE and CERN Open Science Office, is the perfect space to connect, reflect, and act. This year’s edition embraces the power of collaboration because “now more than ever, we need to fuse forces” to uncover insights, strengthen transparency, and face the unknown together.

Taking place from 15–17 September 2025 at CERN Science Gateway in Geneva, this year’s theme “Fusing Forces – Accelerating Open Science through Collaboration” puts partnerships at the centre. Expect inspiring keynotes, lively panels, collaborative workshops, demos, posters, and new tools that advance openness across disciplines and borders.

TRAINING
Learning by Doing: Flipped Learning Boosts OpenAIRE Bootcamp

Our 7th OpenAIRE Bootcamp embraced a flipped learning approach, shifting lectures to pre-recorded videos and making space for hands-on activities and peer exchange. The result? Stronger engagement, deeper learning, and a growing community of Open Science trainers. We're taking your feedback on board to make the next edition even better!

OPEN SCIENCE INFRASTRUCTURE
The Mutable Truth: Why Metadata Freezing & Versioning Matters

What happens to research assessment when metadata changes after the fact? Here we dive into why freezing and versioning metadata, especially in infrastructures like the OpenAIRE Graph, is crucial to ensure reliable, transparent evaluation in Open Science.

POLICY & ASSESSMENT
Reframing Research Assessment: A New Vision for Researcher Profiles

How can we fairly evaluate researchers in all their diversity, from Open Science practices to teaching and societal impact? In a new article for fteval Journal, Zenia Xenou and Lottie Provost present a fresh framework developed in the GraspOS project. Discover how the MyResearchFolio model supports CoARA principles and helps build a more inclusive, values-driven approach to assessment.

EVENT/ LAUNCH
Tracking Global Progress in Open Science

Earlier this month, the international Open Science community gathered at UNESCO HQ in Paris and online to explore how we assess Open Science impact – globally and locally. Co-organised by UNESCO, OpenAIRE, PathOS, EOSC Track, and OSMI, the event marked major milestones – including the launch of the EOSC Open Science Observatory and the introduction of global principles on Open Science monitoring.
