Big news on international alignment: The Mexican government’s science and technology agency, CONACYT, has recently published a set of technical requirements for all Mexican repositories which announces the adoption of the OpenAIRE guidelines for Mexican literature and data repositories...
The OpenAIRE information space continues its impressive record of growth. The OpenAIRE portal now includes almost 14 million Open Access publications and 16,800 datasets from almost 700 OpenAIRE compatible data providers. The number of data providers is constantly growing. In 2015 over one hundred new data providers joined the network. And for good reason…
As part of OpenAIRE2020, OpenEdition, in association with the Couperin consortium and the environmental science journal VertigO, is carrying out experiments in the areas of open peer review and open commentary. Although the experiments are still ongoing, we are here able to share an update on progress, along with some preliminary findings.
Converting the entire scholarly publication output resulting from the support of public resources to open access by 2025! This was the aspiration leading a working group of 14 Open Access experts, under the leadership of Peter Seitz (Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy). Their clear vision and concrete recommendations, which favour Gold Open Access, are formulated in 16 recommendations…
To improve practices and support in the area of digital preservation, RCAAP (The Scientific Open Access Repository of Portugal) have carried out an audit of Portuguese repositories. Reliability and security are key in the preservation of digital objects and the audit’s results show that Portugal is on the right track.
2016 promises a full programme of fascinating conferences and workshops in the areas of scholarly communications and open science. As the year begins, we here look forward to a brief selection of these forthcoming events, where we look forward to hearing new ideas, enaging in worthwhile debate and meeting friends old and new!
