Shushanik Sargsyan is head of the Center for Scientific Information Analysis and Monitoring at the Institute for Informatics and Automation Problems, National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia. She has a PhD in biological sciences from Yerevan State University. She is also an assistant professor at Mkhitar Heratsi Yerevan State Medical University, Department of Medical Physics. She has a certificate from a Program on Monitoring and Evaluation of S&T Development Trends organized by ECOOM, KU Leaven, Belgium.
Dr. Sargsyan is/was actively engaged in several international projects related to modern trends in scholarly communication, such as OpenAIRE, NI4OS-Europe. She is also active in projects on national level related to open science, as a result of which Armenian OpenAIRE NOAD was build and integrated into the pan-European OpenAIRE network.
She has participated in many international and domestic conferences and is very active in education activities through university teaching and various educational trainings, especially the training of librarians through the Center for continuing professional training of librarians. Shushanik Sargsyan is an author of nearly 30 articles published in international and national peer reviewed journals. She has also participated in dozens of international conferences both in Armenia and abroad. Shushanik Sargsyan is teaching courses for students and organizing trainings for researchers related to scientometrics, open science and modern trends in science.
Shushanik Sargsyan is actively promoting the ideas of open science in Armenia through organizing different initiatives - round-table discussions, lectures, seminars, meeting, etc. She has initiated the Armenian Science Citation Index database which is in the process of realization and will be launched with new modern tools and open science ideas very soon.
