Bojan Macan is head of the Centre for scientific information at the Ruđer Bošković Institute, Zagreb, Croatia. He has a PhD in information and communication sciences as well as graduation diploma of information sciences (librarianship) and Croatian language and literature, all from University of Zagreb, Faculty of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Bojan is/was actively engaged in several international projects concerning different aspects of scholarly communication, including projects like OpenAIREplus, FOSTER, OpenAIRE2020, OpenAIRE Advance, NI4OS-Europe and CA COST Action ENRESSH. He is also active on the national level on several projects and initiatives related with building national open access and open science infrastructure such as Croatian Scientific Bibliography (CROSBI), Database About Project Activities in Croatia (POIROT), Database about Scientific Equipment (Šestar), Digital Academic Archives and Repositories (DABAR) and Scientific and Technological Foresight project (STF) on building of the national CRIS system. He has actively participated in many international and domestic conferences and is very active in education activities through university teaching and various educational trainings, especially the training of librarians through the Center for continuing professional training of librarians. Bojan published around 20 articles in international and domestic journals and conference proceedings, as well as two book chapters.
Bojan is particularly interested in challenges posed by changes in scientific communication, especially related with the open science initiative and evaluation procedures in science, as well as the role which research libraries can play in these processes.
