Mar 29, 2023

Welcome to "Open-ON-AIRE" our newly launched podcast series, a storytelling journey exploring Open Science principles and practices in Europe offering the expert perspective and insights of the OpenAIRE community. Our diverse network of experts and pioneers in scholarly communication and Open Science spans over 37 European countries and beyond, making it an invaluable resource for anyone interested in this exciting field.

Our podcast provides a platform for OpenAIRE members and Open Science experts to share their insights and experiences with a wider audience. In the first episode, we interview Van Nieuwerburgh and Eloy Rodrigues, two seasoned experts in the field, who shed light on the human network powering the Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe. They discuss the dedicated team that works tirelessly to ensure that scientific research is accessible to everyone.

The second episode delves into OpenAIRE's flagship service, the Graph. Paolo Manghi and Pedro Principe advocate for the openness of data as a key component of Open Science and highlight what makes the OpenAIRE Graph unique and how it can be used to unlock the power of open science data and create new opportunities.

Our future episodes will explore a range of topics related to Open Science, their challenges and the solutions that our community finds to facilitate the transition towards more responsible and transparent scholarly communication. Our experts guide us through the main pillars of Open Science in scholarly communication, starting open access publishing and research data management to open education resources and training.

The launch of the "Open-ON-AIRE" series comes at a critical time when the importance of Open Science has never been more apparent and urgent. The COVID-19 pandemic has acted as the catalyst to unearth the need for quick and efficient open sharing of research data for the benefit of science and society.

We believe that Open Science is the key to creating a better world and are committed to making it a reality. Thus, we are thrilled to offer "Open-ON-AIRE" as a valuable resource for the Open Science community. As we navigate the challenges of the 21st century, Open Science will be more important than ever, and initiatives like this will be instrumental in actualising it.

We hope that our podcast series will be an essential resource for researchers, policymakers, and all key stakeholders who want to stay up to date with the latest developments in the field of Open Science.

Enjoy, share and join our community!
