The EC has released an interim set of working documents to measure the impact and effectiveness of the Horizon2020 Work Programme. Although it is still in the early days, the Work Programme is proving so far a success in terms of relevance, efficiency,  and coherence.

On September 22^nd 2017, the Editorial Team of “OpenMethods: Highlighting Digital Humanities Methods and Tools” had its kick-off meeting. Together with Chief Editor Delphine Montoliu and the Management Team,  Digital Humanities experts from all over Europe discussed  the further direction of this new initiative lead by Humanities at Scale (a DARIAH-EU H2020 project) in cooperation with OPERAS.

What Is "OpenMethods"?

“OpenMethods” is a metablog highlighting curated content from the field of Digital Humanities Methods and Tools, an area currently under-represented in peer-reviewed DH literature. With the enormous amount of material available online, from blog posts to articles and expert reports, a dedicated platfrom is needed to highlight and promote, especially valuable multilingual and multidisciplinary, Open Access content to the community in order to showcase analyses and results, facilitate interdisciplinary and international knowledge exchange, and accelerate the empowerment of the research community.

Using a metablog approach, members of the “OpenMethods” Editorial Team post already published content and promote it on the “OpenMethods” website. Over the last few weeks, the Editorial Team has already started to populate the blog with highly interesting content in various languages.

To take “OpenMethods” to the next level, directly to the pulse of the community as a collaborative and interactive forum, the Editorial Team needs input from the DH community. Therefore, members of the DH community interested in digital methods and tools are warmly invited to apply to join OpenMethods as Volunteer Editors to and advise the Editorial Team on the choice of content. The Editorial Team selects high-quality resources from amongst the Volunteer Editors’ nominations via a voting system, curate, and categorize the content according to the TaDiRAH Taxonomy to make it easier for readers to identify content that is relevant for them.

The Volunteer Editors of the Week are named in person, and write and sign their own introductions on republished content. In the future, especially active volunteer editors will have the opportunity to become expert members of the core editorial team. If you are not sure about joining “Open Methods” as a Volunteer Editor, but have interesting content to share, you can always use Submit a Content to draw the Editorial Team’s attention to content anonymously.
