Nicola holds a Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering and a PhD in Automation, Robotics, and Bioengineering from the University of Pisa.

As Director of Development and Operation at OpenAIRE, he is responsible for the development and operation of distributed digital infrastructures supporting scholarly communication and research data management.

In this role, he oversees system architecture evolution, service reliability, and the integration of different platforms and stakeholders within the Open Science ecosystem.
He coordinates cross-functional teams across development, testing, and operational processes, ensuring the effective transition from system design to production services and the continuous improvement in terms of performance, quality, and sustainability.
