Objectives

The preparation for the next European Framework Programme is advancing very quickly and the European Commission has recently adopted the Green Paper 'From Challenges to Opportunities: Towards a Common Strategic Framework for EU research and innovation funding', launching a public consultation on the key issues to be taken into account for future EU research and innovation funding programmes.

With this broad framework in mind, this workshop leveraged on the opportunity of a regular meeting related with the implementation of the FP7 OA Pilot to bring to the table related issues that different stakeholders and policy makers (at European and Member State level) have been discussing. The workshop is

structured to address the following points:

  1. Update on the European Commission developments related to access to scientific information
  2. Update from OpenAIRE e-Infrastructure on the implementation of the OA pilot and its future plans (extensions at global level, etc);
  3. Sharing experiences in Member States and Projects related to the future of scientific information
  4. Presentation of SURF's initiative "Clearing the Gate" (proposal to undertake a feasibility study).
