ICT Proposer’s day 2019
Digital Excellence Forum @ICT Proposers’ Day 2019
19 to 20 September 2019
Messukeskus Center, Helsinki, Finland
What was it about
This was an excellent opportunity to present and discuss the main policy drivers of the digital transformation of the European industry and society and how the EU research and innovation agenda could best contribute to these objectives. The event presented the Horizon 2020 Work Programme and served as a unique networking platform for ICT enthusiasts and professionals.
Why was this day important to OpenAIRE
During the second day of the conference, Georgia Tzenou coordinated the session “Implementing the European Open Science Cloud”. 2 main topics were covered within the session: 1. INFRAEOSC-03-2020 and 2. INFRAEOSC-07-2020
Georgia Tzenou pointed out the need to involve research communities and widen the EOSC user base, turning FAIR principles into practice. She stressed EOSC’s ability to empower 1,7 million European researchers and 70 million science/technology professionals to reap the benefits of data-driven science.
OpenAIRE supports the production of the EOSC portal.

A brief history of the collaboration between EOSC and OpenAIRE:
Two flagship EC initiatives, OpenAIRE-Advance and EOSC-hub launched a new exciting chapter in their collaboration with the signing of their collaboration agreement on Monday, 30 April 2018. The agreement solidified the projects’ ambition for Europe to become a global leader in digital and open science to ensure that scientists reap the full benefits of open data-driven science. Science requires a joint effort and new tools are needed to harness all the relevant information within the research process, while delivering easy ways to implement open science. Together, we will provide a set of services and resources that will become part of the EOSC (European Open Science Cloud).
