12th International Digital Curation Conference (IDCC)

Edinburgh, UK 20 to 23 February

Despite their widespread applicability, digital curation skills, tools and services have a very mixed range of maturity and capability. Many organisations are only experimenting while in others they are embedded in organizational workflows. The conference brings together digital curation professionals and educators with data producers and consumers to consider digital curation in a multi-disciplinary context. There will be a programme of workshops on Monday 20 February and Thursday 23 February and the main conference will run from Tuesday 21 to Wednesday 22 February 2017.

Open Science Conference 2017

The Open Science Conference 2017 is dedicated to the Open Science movement and provides a unique forum where researchers, librarians, practitioners, politicians, and other important stakeholders can discuss and exchange their ideas and experiences. The thematic focus this year is “open educational resources”. Open educational resources include course materials (print and digital), modules, streaming videos, software, and any other tools, materials, or techniques used to support open access to knowledge.

Openaire workshop: Legal issues in Open Research Data

Barcelona, Spain 4 April

This 8th OpenAIRE workshop, taking place as part of the RDA Ninth Plenary Meeting, Barcelona, Spain, will explore legal hindrances and possible solutions to open up research data. It will examine the topic and acquaint the audience with a critical understanding of the key legal issues surrounding open research data, including data protection, IPR and PSI and foster data sharing and re-use by giving pragmatic direction and concrete recommendations to stakeholders on what their legal obligations are and how best to negotiate them. The workshop will also give opportunity to discuss the new OpenAIRE legal study and to present the data anonymization service developed by the OpenAIRE IT experts.

RDA Night Plenary Meeting  

Barcelona, Spain 5 to 7 April

The Research Data Alliance (RDA) brings together a diverse community of data scientists, librarians, computer scientists, and domain scientists coming from both the public and private sector with one common goal – to remove the barriers to data sharing and reuse. RDA members work together looking at a range of technical and social challenges to data sharing. The 9th RDA Plenary Meeting will take place in Barcelona, 5 to 7 April 2017. Co-organized by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center-Centro Nacional de Supercomputación and revolves around the theme of “Data Infrastructures for Open Science”.

COAR annual meeting 2017

The major theme for this year’s COAR meeting will be next generation repositories. The meeting will focus on strategies for positioning the international network of repositories as the foundation of a global knowledge commons. 2017 Open Repository Conference

Liber Conference 2017
