I will describe joint work with M. Morrow and P. Scholze on the construction of a new integral cohomology theory for smooth projective schemes over the ring of integers of a p-adic field. The new theory realizes de Rham cohomology as a specialization of etale cohomology (integrally), and thus yields consequences about torsion by semicontinuity.

A solar electric motor that levitates on superconducting bearings has been designed and tested at the GREEN Laboratory. This video shows the start-up of the motor and the permanent regime that represents a speed around 1350 rpm, with a configuration of superconducting bearings called "vertical configuration". The difference from the video [10.5281/zenodo.154013] is that, the permanent magnet that acts as inductor has been placed in the optimal position.

Deformation and rigidity for group actions and von Neumann algebras

We present some recent rigidity results for von Neumann algebras (II1 factors) and equivalence relations arising from measure preserving actions of groups on probability spaces which satisfy a combination of deformation and rigidity properties. This includes strong rigidity results for factors with calculation of their fundamental group and cocycle superrigidity for actions with applications to orbit equivalence ergodic theory.
