Measurement of the t distribution in diffractive photoproduction at HERA

DESY-HERA. Measurement of the T distribution in diffractive photoproductionproduced in the interaction of 27.5 GeV positrons and 820 GeV protons, in the p hoton-proton centre-of-mass energy range 176 to 225 GeV. Numerical values supplied by A Garfagnini.

A gradient-based optimisation scheme for optical tomography

Arridge, Simon R.; Martin Schweiger (1998)
Publisher: Figshare
Optical tomography schemes using non-linear optimisation are usually based on a Newton-like method involving the construction and inversion of a large Jacobian matrix. Although such matrices can be efficiently constructed using a reciprocity principle, their inversion is still computationally difficult. In this paper we demonstrate a simple means to obtain the gradient of the objective function directly, leading to straightforward application of gradient-based optimisation methods.

A Measurement of the total cross-section for e+ e- ---> hadrons at s**(1/2) = 10.52-GeV

CORNELL-CESR. Measurement of R at centre-of-mass energy 10.52 GeV and derivation of ALPHA_S.

The role of double parton collisions in soft hadron interactions

FERMILAB-TEVATRON. Measurement of the charged particle multiplicity distribution at centre-of mass energies fom 30 to 1800 GeV. The data coded here are for the 1800 GeV data. Numerical values obtained from the experimenters.

Dutch Parliamentary Election Panel Study, 1986-1989

Eijk, C. van der; Irwin, G.A.; Niemoeller, B. (1998)
Publisher: ICPSR - Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social Research
This panel study, conducted within the framework of the Dutch Parliamentary Election Studies, was administered in three waves. The first wave was conducted before the 1986 election, the second wave after the 1986 election, and the third wave after the 1989 election. The purpose of the collection was to assess electoral change in the Netherlands. Main topics covered in the first wave include respondent's political interest, national problems of importance to respondents, party identification a...

Quantum control by compensation of quantum fluctuations

Hofmann, Holger F.; Ortwin Hess; Günter Mahler (1998)
Publisher: Figshare
We show that the influence of quantum fluctuations in the electromagnetic field vacuum on a two level atom can be measured and consequently compensated by balanced homodyne detection and a coherent feedback field. This compensation suppresses the decoherence associated with spontaneous emissions for a specific state of the atomic system allowing complete control of the coherent state of the system.

Measurement of the fraction of hadronic Z decays into charm quark pairs

CERN-LEP. Measurement of the fraction of hadronic Z0 decays (R_c) with charm quark pairs using a sample of 3.7 million hadronic decays collected between 1992 and 1995. R is determined by three methods, one using the inclusive electron spectrum and the other two using a double-tagging technique which is independent of the charm tagging efficiency. The average value is quoted here.

Measuring the Adjusted Monetary Base in an Era of Financial Change

Richard G Anderson; Robert H. Rasche (1998)
Publisher: ICPSR - Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social Research
This research presents a revised measure of the monetary base and a new reserve adjustment magnitude (RAM).

Beam propagation behavior in a quasi-stadium laser diode

The beam propagation behavior of a quasi-stadium laser diode is theoretically investigated. The resonator that we analyzed consists of one flat end-mirror, one convex curved end-mirror and two straight side wall mirrors. The cavity dimension is much larger than the oscillation wavelength. We derived one-dimensional Huygen’s integral equations for this laser cavity and carried out eigenmode calculations using the Fox and Li mode calculation method taking into account the effect of the side wal...

Studies of quantum chromodynamics with the ALEPH detector

CERN-LEP. Review of all data from ALEPH on QCD including multiplicities, jet rates and identified particle distributions. Some of the data is new and previously unpublished, and some has been published before. All is coded here for completeness. To appear in Physics Reports.
