Natality Detail File, 1974: [United States]

United States Department of Health and Human Services. National Center for Health Statistics (2002)
Publisher: ICPSR - Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social Research
This collection provides information on live births in the United States during calendar year 1974. The natality data in this file are a component of the vital statistics collection effort maintained by the federal government. Geographic variables of residence for births include the state, county, city, county and city population, standard metropolitan statistical area (SMSA), and metropolitan/nonmetropolitan county. Other variables specify the race and sex of the child, the age of the mother...

Properties of hadronic final states in diffractive deep inelastic ep scattering at HERA

DESY-HERA. Measurement of event shape distributions (THRUST and SPHERICITY)and the energy flow distributions of hadronic events produced diffractively in collisions of 27.5 GeV positrons with 820 GeV protons. The events are characterised by having a large rapidity gap between the recoil-proton system and the produced hadronic system. Diffractive events are defined as those with a recoil-proton of momentum & gt; 97% of the initial proton momentum. The data was collected during the 1997 running...

Concomitant C-Ring Expansion and D-Ring Formation in Lanosterol Biosynthesis from Squalene without Violation of Markovnikov's Rule

Hess, B. Andes (2002)
Publisher: Figshare
A mechanism is proposed for the formation of the C and D rings of lanosterol from squalene on the basis of density functional calculations of a model cyclopentylcarbinyl carbocation. The mechanism involves the ring expansion of the cyclopentylcarbinyl carbocation to the six-membered ring C in concert with the formation of the D ring. The mechanism does not involve a violation of Markovnikov's rule as the earlier proposed mechanism does for the formation of rings C and D.

Synthesis, Characterization, and Reactivity of Monomeric, Arylpalladium Halide Complexes with a Hindered Phosphine as the Only Dative Ligand

We report the isolation and structural characterization of several monomeric arylpalladium(II) halide complexes containing tri-tert-butyl phosphine, 1-adamantyl-di-tert-butylphosphine, or 2-adamantyl-di-tert-butylphosphine. X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, and theoretical studies indicated that the complexes may be stabilized by agostic interactions. For example, the distance from the closest hydrogen atom to the palladium metal center in the X-ray structure of the 1-adamantyl-phenylpallad...

Structural Features of Lithium Organoborates

The NMR and crystallographic characterization of lithium bis[salicylato(2-)]borate, Li(BSB), and lithium bis[1,2-benzenediolato(2-)-O,O‘]borate, Li(BBB), are reported. The single-strand polymer {(MeCN)2 Li(BSB)}∞ crystallizes from a saturated solution of Li(BSB) in ethanenitrile and consists of μ2-{(MeCN)2Li}+ cations bridging the exocyclic oxygen atoms of two [BSB]- anions. Crystallization of Li(BSB) from tetrahydrofuran produces {(THF)2Li(BSB)}∞, which has essentially the same stru...

Effect of Steric Encumbrance of Tris(3-phenylpyrazolyl)borate on the Structure and Properties of Ternary Copper(II) Complexes Having N,N-Donor Heterocyclic Bases

Complexes of formulation [Cu(TpPh)(L)](ClO4) (1−4), where TpPh is anionic tris(3-phenylpyrazolyl)borate and L is N,N-donor heterocyclic base, viz. 2,2‘-bipyridine (bpy, 1), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen, 2), dipyridoquinoxaline (dpq, 3), and dipyridophenazine (dppz, 4), are prepared from a reaction of copper(II) acetate·hydrate with KTpPh and L in CH2Cl2 and isolated as perchlorate salts. The complexes are characterized by analytical, structural, and spectral methods. The crystal stru...
