  • Investigation of Iaşi County by Using Modern Assesment Criteria for Landscape and Habitat Fragmenatation

With the economic development and human settlement growth occurs a continuous need for the development of transport networks. This leads to an increase in takeover and fragmentation of natural habitat. To reduce the environmental effects of these developments careful analysis and a careful planning of various engineering projects must be made. A detailed analysis of the aspects given by the increase in traffic density can be achieved by tracking the time evolution of the number of vehicles fo...

General Principles for the Design and Construction of Ventilated Façades

Ventilation of wall and roof elements can decrease the heat transfer through the building envelope and consequently reduce the demand for the conventional insulation materials. Moreover, a two stages tightening protection against wind and rain is obtained, that has been proven to reduce the occurrence of building defects of the outer layer. Nevertheless, there is a few data about the design, execution and maintenance of these constructive systems. This paper aims to provide the basic principl...

Consequences of Non-Correlation of Activities Included in the Constructions Rehabilitation Process

The paper presents the main problems appeared in a rehabilitation process for an administrative building. The causes who generate these problems and the abnormal cooperation between owner, designer and the expert are described. In theory, the Romanian prescriptions are clear enough but the practice shows some malfunctions with some negative influence on the structural safety.

Deterministic Method for Assessing the Degree of Degradation for Masonry Condominium Structures in Romanian Urban Areas

The paper presents an assessment methodology for the degree of degradation of masonry load bearing wall condominium structures based on the deterministic approach. According to the generally accepted definition, a deterministic model is a one in which no randomness is involved in the development of future states. As such, a given input will always produce the same output. In risk analysis the events are completely pre-determined by causality and the analyses are performed in order to determin...

The Bridges of Iaşi. Aesthetic Aspects

This paper highlights some aesthetic aspects of bridges from Iasi, with the presentation of technical data and photos. The main issue is the placement of buildings near the bridge and blocked their view. Thus, the aesthetic character of the bridge, which is of particular importance in certain cases, there is not rendered valuable. The same problem occurs if adjacent locations of several bridges (usually two), they obstruct each other.
