  • A Comparative Analysis of Web Buckling Resistance: Steel Plate Girders – Girders with Corrugated WebsA Comparative Analysis of Web Buckling Resistance: Steel Plate Girders – Girders with Corrugated We

In this paper we present a comparative analysis regarding the shear web resistance between five types of steel plate girders and a girder with corrugated webs. The web buckling resistance of steel plate girders is established in accordance with EN 1993-1-5: Plated Structural Elements-§5.3. In the case of girders with corrugated webs, the background for the shear resistance of the web and the beam verification is the Annex D to EN 1993-1-5: Plate Girders with Corrugated Webs.

Influence of Infill Material on the Overall Behavior of a Reinforced Concrete Frame Structure

Reinforced concrete frame structures are a wide spread structural system all around the world. Considered to be flexible structures, they are strongly recommended in areas with height seismicity. The main principle is to create weak breams and strong column, in order that the failure mechanism to be beams and then columns. Severe problems appear due to the supplementary stiffness the non-structural elements bring. Among them is the infill masonry that can be made of several materials and can ...

    Special Rules in Building Contractor

The concept of entrepreneurship is general because on the basis of this contract is executed construction works, installation works and trade debtors etc. In the absence of specific regulations or in addition to, the rules relating to contract applies intellectual work and tutoring, professional consultations etc. The essence of the contract, regardless of the work performed is that the contractor is bound to the client to execute acertain work and to deliver, but the work being executed at ...

The Bridges of Iaşi. Aesthetic Aspects

This paper highlights some aesthetic aspects of bridges from Iasi, with the presentation of technical data and photos. The main issue is the placement of buildings near the bridge and blocked their view. Thus, the aesthetic character of the bridge, which is of particular importance in certain cases, there is not rendered valuable. The same problem occurs if adjacent locations of several bridges (usually two), they obstruct each other.

Numerical Investigation of Progressive Collapse Resistance for Seismically Designed RC Buildings

In this paper the progressive collapse behavior of a reinforced concrete framed building located in different seismic areas from Romania is investigated. The six-storey structure is designed for low (ag = 0.08 g), moderate (ag = 0.16 g) and high (ag = 0.24 g) seismic zone. Based on the GSA (2003) criteria, a nonlinear static analysis is conducted first in order to estimate the progressive collapse resistance of the models. It was shown that all the structures will collapse when subjected to i...
