  • Ultraweak light emission, free radicals, chilling and light sensitivity

Ultraweak light emission (UWLE) was measured from leaves of various chillingsensitive (Lycopersicon esculentum, Cucumis sativus and Phaseolus vulgaris) and tolerant (Pisum sativum and Vicia faba) plants after exposure to low (47C) temperature in the light. UWLE increased upon chilling treatment combined with illumination with 200 mol m2 s1 PAR in all plants, by about 30 in tolerant and by more than 100 in sensitive plants. It increased more when applied together with 400 mol m2 s1 PAR: by 901...

Experimental Mg I oscillator strengths and radiative lifetimes for astrophysical applications on metal-poor stars - New data for the MgI b triplet

Context. The stellar abundance ratio of Mg/Fe is an important tool in diagnostics of galaxy evolution. In order to make reliable measurements of the Mg abundance of stars, it is necessary to have accurate values for the oscillator strength (f- value) of each of the observable transitions. In metal-poor stars the MgI 3p-4s triplet around 5175 angstrom (Fraunhofer's so-called b lines) are the most prominent magnesium lines. The lines also appear as strong features in the solar spectrum. Aim...

Eye model with controllable lens scattering

A model of human eye for experiments in vision research has been developed using PLZT ceramics. This ``artificial eye{''} allows to simulate light scattering caused by cataract in the eye lens. Light scattering of a composite eye lens of the model depends on the electric field applied to a transparent electrooptic PLZT ceramics plate that is attached directly to the lens. The image degradation in such a model eye at various degrees of scattering is studied observing and recording the ...

Effect of random walk phase noise on MIMO measurements

In this paper we study the influence of phase noise from free-running local oscillators on SAGE signal parameter estimation. Phase noise is here modeled as a random-walk process. We present phase noise estimates from our LUND RUSK MIMO channel sounder, and draw conclusions on requirements on local oscillators' phase noise in terms of the Allan variance. We investigate an error propagation effect in SAGE, and finally, we present random-walk phase noise effect on channel capacity.
