    Implementation of Speculative Parallelism in Functional Languages

    A compile-time analysis technique is developed to derive the probability with which a user-defined function or a supercombinator requires each one of its arguments. This provides a basis for identifying useful speculative parallelism in a program. The performance of speculative evaluation is compared with that of lazy evaluation, and the necessary conditions under which speculative evaluation performs better are identified.

    An analytical-knowledge-based statistical method is developed to derive macromodels for the highly nonlinear AC response functions of CMOS op-amp circuits. Simple circuit analysis is used to motivate the use of logarithmic transformations.     The room temperature structure of three compounds belonging to the Aurivillius family (n = 4), ABi(4)Ti(4)O(15) (A = Ba, Sr or Pb) has been analysed. BaBi4Ti4O15 crystallizes in a tetragonal 14/mmm space group whereas SrBi4Ti4O15 and PbBi4Ti4O15 crystallize in the orthorhombic space group A2(1)am.
