  • Strukturelle und hämodynamische Analyse von Mikrogefäßnetzwerken der Chorioallantoismembran des Huhns

Introduction: The chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) is extensively used as an in vivo model. Here, structure and hemodynamics of CAM vessel trees were analyzed and compared with predictions of Murray’s law. Methods: CAM microvascular networks of Hamburger - Hamilton stage 40 chick embryos were scanned by videomicroscopy. Three networks with ~3800, 580 and 480 segments were digitally reconstructed, neglecting the capillary mesh. Vessel diameters (D) and segment lengths were measured, and ge...

Chronisch Inflammatorische Demyelinisierende Polyneuropathie – Immunmarker für Diagnose, Therapiestrategien und Prognose

Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) is the most common autoimmune peripheral neuropathy leading to severe disability in more than 50% of the patients. CIDP remains rare with a prevalence of 0,8-8,9:100.000 but is probably underdiagnosed due to different clinical phenotypes and missing diagnostic markers. The goal of our study was to identify immune markers which would possibly allow us to predict individual course of disease and which could serve as future diagnostic ...

    a retrospective study

Marfan syndrome (MFS) is a connective tissue disorder caused by mutations in the fibrillin-1 gene (FBN1). Multiple organ systems are affected, including the cardiovascular system, the eyes and the skeleton. MFS is diagnosed using the Ghent 2010 nosology, which combines clinical and genetic factors. The two diagnostic ocular features of the nosology are ectopia lentis (EL) and myopia > 3 D. The aim of this study was to evaluate and analyze the largest population of MFS patients to date who und...

Mechansisms of disturbed ion transport in chronic inflammatory bowel disease

One of the main symptoms of chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is diarrhea. One aspect of the diarrhea in IBD is colonic sodium malabsorption. This work dissects the pathomechanisms of disturbed ion transport in IBD with the main focus on colonic sodium malabsorption and involved intracellular signaling pathways. This opens new strategies for therapeutic interventions in IBD.
