  • The influence of care provider access to structural empowerment on individualized care in long term care facilities

    Boothman, Sienna (2007)
This thesis explores the relationship between care provider access to structural empowerment and the provision of individualized care in long-term care (LTC) facilities. Structural equation models (SEM) were computed to examine the relationship between access to empowerment structures (i.e., informal power, formal power, information, support, resources, and opportunity structures) and the provision of individualized care by RNs/LPNs (n = 242) and care aides (n = 326) recruited from three Brit...

Data encoding using periodic nano-optical features

    Vosoogh-Grayli, Siamack (2012)
Successful trials have been made through a designed algorithm to quantize, compress and optically encode unsigned 8 bit integer values in the form of images using Nano optical features. The periodicity of the Nano-scale features (Nano-gratings) have been designed and investigated both theoretically and experimentally to create distinct states of variation (three on states and one off state). The use of easy to manufacture and machine readable encoded data in secured authentication media has b...

    Planning for school improvement

    Haylow, Lynda B (1990)
  • Strewn.

    Clay, Allyson (2005)
For her photograph "Strewn" Clay reuses a book, namely Michael Turner's "The Pornographer's Poem", which she previously soaked in water and destroyed as part of her series “Each Wild Idea.” Also echoed is the performance in Loci when books by prominent women authors are soaked in milk. Here the book has been salvaged, dried and resituated in a placid and unemotional living room. This cryptic scenario makes us wonder whether Turner’s book is in or out of context.

    Vista.

    Clay, Allyson (1990)
Allyson Clay’s "Traces of a City in the Spaces Between Some People" is a series of twenty diptychs contrasting fabricated faux finishing with expressionist painting and text. The fabricated paint applications evoke city surfaces like concrete and granite; they also evoke modernist painting.  Unlike modernist painting, however, the faux surfaces are decorative and mechanically painted. The choice to have the surfaces fabricated serves to disrupt the egoism of modern abstraction and the im...
