  • Mechanisms of new Ru-ferrocene and binuclear Ru metallochemotherapeutics and the Ru metastasis inhibitor NAMI-A

Ruthenium-based anticancer compounds have become a leading area of development in medicinal chemistry. Ru(III) complexes, such as the antimetastatic compound imidazolium [trans-RuCl4(1H-imidazole)(DMSO-S)] (NAMI-A), where DMSO = dimethyl sulfoxide, have shown promising results in clinical trials. Furthermore, reports of organometallic Ru(II) arene complexes, such as [RuCl2(η6-p-cymene)(pta)] (RAPTA-C), where pta = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphatricyclo[3.3.1.13,7]decane, demonstrate that these types ...

"Catch and release": predicting encounter and victim release location choice in serial rape

Much research on the geographic decision-making of sexual predators has found that offenders do not travel very far from their home base to commit crimes. Although this aspect of geographic profiling has been well documented, of equal importance is the understanding of why offenders choose certain locations to commit their crimes. This information is not only significant to rape investigations, but it is especially important for geographic profiling and its further development as an investiga...

    Algorithms for computing cyclotomic polynomials

The $n$th cyclotomic polynomial, $Phi_n(z)$, is the minimal polynomial of the $n$th primitive roots of unity. We developed algorithms for calculating $Phi_n(z)$ to study its coefficients. The first approach computes $Phi_n(z)$ using its discrete Fourier transform. The sparse power series (SPS) algorithm calculates $Phi_n(z)$ as a truncated power series. We make three improvements to the SPS algorithm, ultimately resulting in a fast recursive variant of the SPS algorithm. We make further optim...

Generalizations and extensions of the constant travelling salesman problem

This thesis gives a characterization of cost matrices associated with the complete directed graph that have at most three distinct values for linear spanning 2-forests. Alternative characterizations of cost matrices where all Hamiltonian paths and Hamiltonian cycles have at most two distinct values are also given. The only known characterization for three values of Hamiltonian paths and cycles is for skew-symmetric matrices. Similar results are obtained with different restrictions on the stru...
