  • Epitopanalyse von Matrix-Metalloproteinase-19-spezifischen monoklonalen Antik├Ârpern

By the use of recombinant fragments and synthetic peptides the epitopes of 6 anti-MMP-19 monoclonal antibodies were mapped. With epitope extraction and epitope excision experiments, these peptides were identified as epitopes. The sequences of the peptides were mapped to the propeptide, the catalytic domaine and the hingeregion of MMP-19.The results indicated, that 4 antibodies (CK7/4, 7/5, 8/2, and 8/3) recognize two different MMP-19 fragments, which represent different domaines, and which ar...

Acquired equivalences between auditory stimuli in dolphins (Tursiops truncatus)

This study investigated whether dolphins would show evidence of equivalence class formation between auditory stimuli. Bottlenose dolphins were trained to press one or other of two response levers depending on which one of four auditory stimuli had been previously presented. Once they had learned the initial discriminations, the stimulus-lever contingencies was repeatedly reversed. Within any given session, however, pressing of one lever always led to reward with one set of two tones and press...

Toxicological and pathological applications of Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen (PCNA) : a novel endogenous marker for cell proliferation

A major stimulus to study cell proliferation, particularly in rodent carcinogenicity assays and human tumors, has been the belief that the quantification of this fundamental biological process will provide the toxicologist and pathologist with objective data allowing a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in the toxicity and/or carcinogenicity of certain compounds as well as guiding more effective management of patients afflicted with neoplasia. Among the markers used for cell prol...

    Magnetic instability in HTSC films

We have investigated the short time dynamics in the magnetic flux distribution of thin YBa2Cu3O7-x films by means of time resolved magnetooptics. Local heating of the superconductor with a focussed laser pulse in a region with high shielding currents leads to an instability in the magnetic flux distribution. A pump probe technique allowed to visualize changes in the flux distribultion on a nanosecond time sale. The instability develops in two steps giving rise to additional flux penetration a...

Vegetarianism and food perception : selective visual attention to meat pictures

Vegetarianism provides a model system to examine the impact of negative affect towards meat, based on ideational reasoning. It was hypothesized that meat stimuli are efficient attention catchers in vegetarians. Event-related brain potential recordings served to index selective attention processes at the level of initial stimulus perception. Consistent with the hypothesis, late positive potentials to meat pictures were enlarged in vegetarians compared to omnivores. This effect was specific fo...
