We retrieve the non-BPS extremal black hole superpotential of N=8, d=4 supergravity by using the Maurer-Cartan equations of the symmetric space E_7(7)/SU(8). This superpotential was recently obtained with different 3- and 4-dimensional techniques. The present derivation is independent on the reduction to d=3.
Some aspects of quantum properties of N=8 supergravity in four dimensions are discussed for non-practitioners. At perturbative level, they include the Weyl trace anomaly as well as composite duality anomalies, the latter being relevant for perturbative finiteness. At non-perturbative level, we briefly review some facts about extremal black holes, their Bekenstein-Hawking entropy and attractor flows for single- and two-centered solutions.
We show that 4-point vector boson one-loop amplitudes, computed in [1] in the RNS formalism, around vacuum configurations with open unoriented strings, preserving at least N = 1 $$ \mathcal{N}=1 $$ SUSY in D = 4, satisfy the correct supersymmetry Ward identities, in that they vanish for non MHV configurations (++++) and ( − +++). In the MHV case ( −− ++) we drastically simplify their expressions. We then study factorisation and the limiting IR and UV behaviours and find some unexpected result...
We derive explicitly the superpotential W for the non-BPS branch of N=2 extremal black holes in terms of duality invariants of special geometry. Although this is done for a one-modulus case (the t^3 model), the example gives $Z \neq 0$ black holes and captures the basic distinction from previous attempts on the quadratic series (vanishing C tensor) and from the other Z=0 cases. The superpotential W turns out to be a non-polynomial expression (containing radicals) of the basic duality invarian...

We derive Seiberg-Witten like equations encoding the dynamics of N=2 ADE quiver gauge theories in presence of a non-trivial Omega-background along a two dimensional plane. The epsilon-deformed prepotential and the chiral correlators of the gauge theory are extracted from difference equations that can be thought as a non-commutative (or quantum) version of the Seiberg-Witten curves for the quiver.
In this article we study correspondence between the microscopic spectrum and macroscopic properties of a class of extremal and non-extremal black branes and outline an origin of the interactions among various microstates of a given black brane configuration from the perspective of an intrinsic Riemannian geometry arising from the coarse graining entropy over a large number of microstates. We have analyzed the state-space geometry in the case of various extremal and non-extremal black branes a...
We consider N=2 supergravity theories that have the same spectrum as the R+R^2 supergravity, as predicted from the off-shell counting of degrees of freedom. These theories describe standard N=2 supergravity coupled to one or two long massive vector multiplets. The central charge is not gauged in these models and they have a Minkowski vacuum with N=2 unbroken supersymmetry. The gauge symmetry, being non-compact, is always broken. $\alpha$-deformed inflaton potentials are obtained, in the case ...
We perform an $su(2)$ Hamiltonian reduction in the bosonic sector of the $su(2)$-invariant action for two free $(4,4,0)$ supermultiplets. As a result, we get the five dimensional \Nf supersymmetric mechanics describing the motion of an isospin carrying particle interacting with a Yang monopole. Some possible generalizations of the action to the cases of systems with a more general bosonic action constructed with the help of the ordinary and twisted \Nf hypermultiplets are considered.
