В 2015 г. участниками Буянтской российско-монгольской археологической экспедиции были проведены плановые комплексные работы в Баян-Ульгийском и Ховдском аймаках Монголии. В статье представлен обзор полученных результатов. Кроме сплошных обследований отдельных территорий, важных в плане этнокультурных реконструкций, и фиксации всех выявленных археологических объектов, целенаправленно были реализованы следующие направления деятельности: документирование петроглифов и «оленных» камней, обнаружение тюркских оградок и средневековых изваяний. Необходимо также отметить специальное изучение ранее обнаруженных остатков высокогорного городища и копирование рунических надписей. Указанные работы проводились как на хорошо известных памятниках (Чандмань хар узуур, Яманы-ус и др.), так и на тех, которые найдены и обозначены впервые. Полученные обширные материалы являются дополнительной информационной базой для наполнения конкретным содержанием формирующейся культурно-хронологической схемы изучения истории народов Монгольского Алтая с древности до этнографической современности. В настоящее время актуальной задачей является введение в научный оборот имеющихся научных сведений об археологии Западной Монголии, в том числе в виде монографических изданий.
