This is an extract from a larger piece based on John Wyndham's novel The Kraken Wakes. The extract was performed at the 2015 BBC Proms by the BBC Philharmonic orchestra as part of the 'Wireless Nights' collaboration with BBC Radio 4 (Prom 74), and was presented by Jarvis Cocker. The evening consisted of commentary, performances by Cocker, recorded interviews and two new pieces including this. The whole piece will be performed as part of a live show in January 2016 at Media City UK, and will be broadcast as the music to Val McDermid's adaptation of the novel for BBC Radio 4 Drama, for broadcast April 2016. The larger project will assess ways for audiences to interact with contemporary classical music through encountering it in the form of radio drama, but also in an online game developed in collaboration with BBC Research and Development.
