Introduction: Cephalometry is an essential tool in clinical and research orthodontics. We present a novel technique to digitize a conventional radiograph using a conventional scanner. Materials and methods: A LED light panel view was used to illuminate the radiograph during the scanning process of a conventional flatbed scanner. Result: A dimensionally accurate digital image of a conventional radiograph was obtained with good contrast, density and resolution. Conclusion: This novel technique provides an alternative to expensive equipment for digitizing a conventional radiograph.
