Renewal effect refers to the reappearance of a conditioned response by a context change between extinction and testing. This phenomenon holds relevance at a theoretical level since it shows that, in extinction, learning does not go under. This article reviews the procedures among which the effects of both classic and instrumental conditioning were studied as well as those treatments that prevent them from occurring
