Martial had unparalleled knowledge of the city of Rome and he provides guidance to todays’s readers in the street maze of the city. That city had specific feaures which made the circulation of people and vehicles difficult, in spite of the efforts made by some politicians to improve the urban network. Marcial conhecia como ninguém a cidade de Roma e serve de guia aos leitores da actualidade através das ruas labirínticas da Urbe. Essa cidade apresentava características específicas que dificultavam a circulação quer de pessoas quer de viaturas, apesar dos esforços de alguns políticos para irem melhorando o tecido urbano. Marcial conocía como nadie la ciudad de Roma y sirve de guía a los lectores de la actualidad a través de las laberínticas calles de la Urbe. Esta ciudad presentaba características específicas que dificultaban la circulación tanto de personas como de carruajes, a pesar de los esfuerzos de algunos políticos para ir mejorando el entramando urbano. Martial connaissait mieux que quiconque la ville de Rome, c’est pourquoi il sert de guide aux lecteurs actuels à travers les rues labyrinthiques de la Cité. Cette ville possédait des caractéristiques spécifiques qui rendaient la circulation tout aussi difficile pour les personnes que pour les voitures, et cela malgré les efforts de certains hommes politiques pour améliorer les tissus urbains.
