The aim of this study was to test the factor structure and reliability to the Spanish Version of the Revised Illness Perception Questionaire (IPQ-R), a mesure of the illness representation based on Common-Sense Model proposed by Leventhal in eating disorders patients and their relatives. Method: Ninety-eight eating disorders patients and sixty two relatives participated. The mean aged was 20.8 years (sd= 5.61). Results: The analysis revealed six factor solution including timeline, control, timeline cyclic, cure and emotional dimension, and four factors which account for 44.8% variance to the causal items. Conclusion: Results suggest suitable psychometric properties of the Spanish version of this scale, as a reliable and valid instrument, revealing a structure of illness perception similar to original version.
