Towards better teaching about Open Science
Last month, we concluded the fourth edition of our eagerly awaited train-the-trainer bootcamp. We are thrilled to announce that the feedback we received throughout the week and via the satisfaction survey was overwhelmingly positive. OpenAIRE, a non-profit organisation committed to facilitating Open Science practices, seeks to empower trainers with knowledge and skills in Open Science. As the research landscape continually evolves, we highly value the input and suggestions provided in previous sessions to consistently enhance our bootcamp experience.
One of the significant improvements we implemented during the previous bootcamp in response to feedback was reducing the number of participants to 20 individuals. While some participants expressed a preference for extending the bootcamp over two weeks instead of one, the majority appreciated the intensity of the week-long training.
Participants particularly enjoyed the content, resources, and tools provided during the training, as well as the contact and variety of the trainers, highlighting their great pedagogical skills and knowledge.
"[The trainers] really like what they do, and this shows! Thank you for your energy!"
"Everything was positive and useful, the dynamism of the course, the variety of activities, the sessions in smaller groups [...]"
With over 100 participants from 35 different countries across the last four bootcamps, the collaborative atmosphere fostered during these intensive weeks has led to the formation of a vibrant global community of Open Science advocates. Participants have reported valuable networking opportunities, sharing best practices, and forming lasting professional connections. This sense of community contributes significantly to the overall impact of the bootcamp, creating a supportive network that extends well beyond the confines of the training week.
The next bootcamp will take place on the week of 13-17 May 2024. The materials presented, as well as recordings of the individual talks are available on OpenPlato.
