Mission

The University of Banja Luka recognises the significance of open science and open research infrastructures as a fundamental element for carrying out scientific research, as well as the directions of the European Union regarding open science and open access to research infrastructures.

Contribution to Open Science

University of Banja Luka is a pioneer in B&H when it comes to open science and open access. It was the first institution to create a grid computing cluster within the scope of SEE-GRID EU FP project, as well as the first institution to be connected to GEANT infrastructure via optical link within the scope of SEEREN2 EU FP project. University of Banja Luka is also the first higher education institution in the country to sign the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities in 2016.

Goals and objectives

Recognizing the importance of research infrastructures as the core of the knowledge triangle of research, education and innovation and its crucial role towards Open Science, our main goal will be to promote and enable access to research infrastructures in order to enhance innovative research and development, improve related methods and skills in the workforce. Our objective will be to fully embrace this conception or creation of new knowledge, products, processes, methods and systems and also to include in the management of projects implemented at the University.

Services
The University of Banja Luka can enable access to students and researchers from public research organizations and higher education institutions, offering them education and trainings, access to digital repository and e-infrastructure, and some facilities such as laboratories, equipment, collections and archives. Access to research infrastructures may be limited due to lack of legislation in the field and ethical considerations in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
