Zenodo buecher text

This is what you expect from your repository and this – and even more – is what you get from Zenodo.

Zenodo-logoZenodo is a new-generation online repository, enabling researchers to share and preserve any research outputs from any science. Free to upload and free to access, Zenodo makes scientific outputs of all kinds – from publications to posters, datasets to software – citable, shareable and discoverable for the long term. Supported by the European Commission (EC) and maintained by OpenAIRE and CERN, Zenodo offers services for individual researchers, scientific communities and research institutions. As part of the pan-European project OpenAIRE it is closely linked to the research reality and thereby always in development/progression to fit actual researchers’ needs.

Even now it already contains an amount of services for individual researchers, scientific communities and research institutions. Here’s a brief summary of some of the features and benefits Zenodo brings for your research output.

Trusted, reliable, safe!

Your research output is stored safely for the future in same cloud infrastructure as research data from CERN's Large Hadron Collider and using CERN's battle-tested repository software INVENIO, which is used by some of the world's largest repositories such as INSPIRE HEP and CERN Document Server. Both data files and metadata are kept in multiple online replicas and backed up to tape every night. CERN has considerable knowledge and experience in building and operating large scale digital repositories and a commitment to maintain this data centre to collect and store 100s of PBs of LHC data as it grows over the next 20 years.

To ensure your research results easily and uniquely citable in the long run, Zenodo assigns all publicly available uploads a Digital Object Identifier (DOI).

Simple, easy-to-use and intuitive!

Zenodo is free to upload and free to access. It accepts any file format and thereby enables users to easily share even the long tail of small research results in a wide variety of formats including text, spreadsheets, audio, video, and images across all fields of science.

It offers simple and easy-to-use data archiving with maximum autonomy. The clear web interface leads you step by step to the publication of your research output. Its semi-automatic metadata completion helps you to provide your upload with all relevant informations by communicating with existing online services such as Mendeley/ORCID/CrossRef/OpenAIRE. Within this process your upload will also get a pre-reserved DOI to make it citeable even before it is published.

To make using data as easy as possible content can not only be searched but content but is harvestable by third parties via OAI-PMH.

Beneficial, informative and up to date!

Furthermore Zenodo offers an amount of interesting features around your publications:

  • Collections and Communities: Zenodo allows you to create your own collection and accept or reject uploads submitted to it. Creating a space for your next workshop or project has never been easier. Plus, everything is citeable and discoverable!
  • Exporting, sharing and monitoring: Zenodo allows you not only to share it’s content via different channels and export it’s metadata in a variety of formats, but – due to the unique identifier to every upload -- it is also possible to include different article level metrics to your publication.
  • Reporting: Zenodo is integrated into reporting lines for research funded by the European Commission via OpenAIRE. Just upload your research to Zenodo, and we will take care of the reporting for you. We plan to expand this feature with further funding agencies in the future, so stay tuned!
  • Flexible Licensing: Zenodo encourages you to share your research as openly as possible to maximize use and re-use of your research results. However, we also acknowledge that one size does not fit all. Therefore, we allow for uploading under a variety of different licenses and access levels

For the future we have tons of ideas for new features for Zenodo. But for we always want to be close to the needs of researchers, your opinions, ideas and needs decide what we will work on, so give us your feedback.
